The picture above is from an event that we photographed today. The Spellbound Century bike race event, which took place in Mount Holly, New Jersey. The collected proceeds benefits the Mount Holly School District Parent/Teacher Organizations and much more. The reason we are bringing up this event is because we had a chance to really explore how well the new Sony A7III camera holds up and we were not disappointed!
Without going into too much detail, we wanted to point out what we enjoyed about this camera. First, the 24 megapixels. The detail that this camera captures is amazing! What you see above has been edited, but it is not far off from what came straight out of the camera. Which leads us to our next "pro," the colorization. We love Sony's color tones that come straight out of the camera. We believe that the tones are a little on the warmer side, but makes for an easy edit in post. Next, the 693 points of auto focus. Specifically, the joystick! The joystick makes selecting focus so much easier and we do not think we could live without it. Lastly, the battery life. Battery life has greatly improved with this camera and we were able to shoot everything on one battery. We were there for 8 hours, but our shooting was intermittent. Even though it was intermittent, we were still impressed! Sony's A7III crushed it this year, keeping companies like Canon and Nikon on their toes playing catch-up. Let's see what the competition brings for the back half of 2018! If you are considering an A7III, but are hesitant on pulling the trigger, we can confidently say that we definitely approve.
